Summer is here, which means we’ll be breaking out the sandals and flip flops. It’s time to get your feet into shape for all the warmer days ahead!
Our feet take a lot of pounding each and every day, so it is important to treat them well so they look great when we wear sandals and go barefoot. As each year passes, you may notice a little extra dryness, more calluses, or even discoloration, but there are some simple things you can do to keep your feet in excellent shape. Check out these tips we found on the Prevention magazine website!
It’s time to ask yourself “Are you and your feet ready for flip flop season”?
- To take care of excess dryness, hydrate your feet daily with a foot cream right after you bathe.
- Toenails become thicker and harder with age, due in part to pressure from your shoes. Coating your nails each night with petroleum jelly will help soften them and make them easier to trim. Additionally, you should clip and file them properly to prevent splits and ingrown nails.
- If you have overgrown cuticles, soften them every other week by applying cuticle oil and soaking your feet in warm water for 10 minutes to loosen the skin, which will make it easier to remove.
